    Effect of pre harvest application of boron and zinc on post harvest quality and vaselife of carnation

    The study was conducted to determine the effect of pre harvest spray of micronutrients like boron, zinc and its combination on post harvest quality and vase life of carnation. Post harvest quality of flowers like flower stalk length (65.61 cm) was maximum in the plant treated with zinc (0.3 per cent), and calyx splitting (3.12 per cent) was minimum in the plants treated with boron (0.1 per cent). Flower diameter (6.64 cm) was highest with boron (0.1 per cent) + zinc (0.3 per cent) treatment. Plants without micronutrient treatment produced poor quality flowers. Regarding vase life studies maximum water uptake and minimum transpiration loss from first day to sixteenth day was resulted in the flowers which are obtained from the plant treated with boron (0.1 per cent). The maximum fresh weight of the flower was noticed in combination of boron (0.1 per cent) + zinc (0.3 per cent) from first to sixteenth day. The foliar spray of boron (0.1 per cent) recorded maximum vase life (11.05 days). So the good quality of flowers can be improved by the foliar spray of zinc, calyx splitting can be controlled by boron foliar spray and vase life of the flower can be maintained by foliar spray of boron. It is confirmed that the foliar application of micronutrient is very much helpful for the improvement of post harvest quality and vase life of carnation

    AbstractSeveral mapping techniques are in use for the storage of objects in Network Database Management System (NDBMS). Though there is a generation gap between the evolution of NDBMS and Object Oriented Technology (OOT), both are either analogous or complementary to each other. Therefore the mapping technique to map class diagram onto Bachman diagram has been evolved. Host program accessing the database and accessing the independent data file may differ in the number and use of attributes and classes. Hence along with the mapping techniques, the implementation subsets of structural and behavioral aspect are to be considered. Moreover, the persistent closure (connected dependent objects) is to be maintained during the storage and retrieval of the objects. Thus, the mere mapping technique is not sufficient for the storage and retrieval of objects as the host program has to establish the relevancy of the database with respect to its authorized subset. In this paper, we have made an attempt to develop a guidelines to assist the programmer to determine the closure of every mapped class and accordingly to design the persistent constructor and loader for the storage and retrieval of the objects respectively. The persistent closure is determined by the type of interrelationship (degree of cohesion) between objects (classes) is identified. For illustrative portion of the class diagram depicting the business process and its implementation in the NDBMS, a table containing the implemented classes with their connected classes is prepared, and then the guidelines are proposed to integrate object oriented host program to access the database through NDBMS

    At Mobile Adhoc Network (MANET) has been long-researched topic in adhoc network owing to the associated advantages in its cost-effective application as well as consistent loophopes owing to its inherent charecteristics. This manuscript draws a relationship between the energy factor and security factor which has not been emphasized in any existing studies much. Review of existing security approaches shows that they are highly attack specific, uses complex encryption, and overlooks the involvement of energy factor in it. Therefore, the proposed system introduces a novel mechanism where security tokens and passphrases are utilized in order to offer better security. The proposed system also introduces the usage of an agent node which communications with mobile nodes using group-based communication system thereby ensuring reduced computational effort of mobile nodes towards establishing secured communication. The outcome shows proposed system offers better outcome in contrast to existing system

At present, there are various work being carried out towards resisting security breach in MANET; however approaches using mobile agent based mechanism is few to found. Therefore, the proposed system introduces a novel mathematical model where an extensive decision making system has been constructed for identifying the malicious intention of mobile agents in case they go rogues. By adopting multi-tier communication policy and fairness concept, the proposed system offers the capability to resist any form of malicious activity of mobile agent without even presence of any apriori information of adversary.     Microwave absorbing material (MAM) is a kind of functional material that can absorb electromagnetic wave effectively and convert electromagnetic energy into heat or make electromagnetic wave disappear by interference. These types of materials are gaining much attention in the field of civil and military applications. The present work is the report of our effort in studying the EMI-Shielding properties of conducting polyaniline (PANI) and their composites. The wet dark green precipitate and varied weight percentage (wt %) of cenosphere particles were transferred directly to the 5% polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) solution. The resulting mixture was stirred continuously for 1 hour for homogeneous distribution of the particles. The mixture was poured on to the glass plate and allowed to dry at room temperature to get freestanding PANI/FA/MnO2/PVA polymer matrix. The electromagnetic wave absorption, reflection and EMI Shielding Effectiveness (EMI SE) of the composites has been measured at X-band (8-12 GHz) micro wave frequencies. The experimental results indicate that the absorption dominated EMI SE of the composites is influenced by the fly ash weight percentage. The study suggests the prospects of the composites as effective shielding materials for a broad range of micro wave frequency

    Optical diagnosis of cervical cancer by fluorescence spectroscopy technique

    In the present work, we examine normal and malignant stage IIIB cervical tissue by laser induced fluorescence, with 2 different objectives. (i) Development of the fluorescence spectroscopy technique as a standard optical method for discrimination of normal and malignant tissue samples and, (ii) Optimization of the technique by the method of matching of a sample spectrum with calibration sets of spectra of pathologically certified samples. Laser-induced fluorescence spectra were measured using samples from 62 subjects at different excitation wavelengths. Principal component analysis (PCA) of spectra and intensity ratios of curve-resolved fluorescence peaks were tested for discrimination. It was found that PCA of total fluorescence at 325 nm excitation gives specificity and sensitivity over 95%. Use of calibration sets of spectra of histo-pathologically certified samples combined with PCA for matching and pass/fail classification of test samples is shown to have high sensitivity/specificity for routine diagnostic purposes as well as for possible staging of the disease. Further, the multi-component origin of the fluorescence spectra is illustrated by curve resolution and fluorescence spectra of separated proteins of tissue homogenates
